As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu

Just got back from visiting my sister... had a blast with the kiddies.
Managed to crochet my nephew a skull cap (kufi)...and I have plans on making a soccer themed one!! Will post if that ever works out :D

Also made a monster with my niece.

She took the picture.

Title: Paper Toy Monsters
Found: Amazon.ca

What it's about: It's approximately 200 pages. The left page has a little 'story' about the monster, the right page has the monster dye-cut. You punch out the monster, glue the tabs and put that thing together.
They are about 50 monsters, and 10 blanks which you get to design yourself. Each monster is set for a different level (ex. easy, intermediate, etc.)

My thoughts: Love the book!! I totally dig the little monster stories (and all three kids enjoyed listening to me read them). I think the idea is very creative, and the monsters ARE infact fun to put together. They are also all different, so there is something for everyone.

Highly recommend it for all ages. I helped my 4 year niece (she did all the folding and gluing). Once done she ran to get jewel stickers and personalized it a little more!

Note: we used a good glue-stick and had absolutely NO problems. And I had no problems punching out the pieces.

Pottery With Lady Bugs
Tuesday, December 10, 2013
As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu

I have SO many over due posts to share!! I'll start with this one.
I managed to get a group of mom's and children for a pottery painting event a few weeks ago and decided to take them some snacks.

Here are the lady bug cupcakes I took. There were pretty easy to make, and you can make them (the lady bugs) a few days ahead. You'll have to make the antenna's a week ahead so they dry.

The day of (once the cakes are cooled) just pipe green grass on each cupcake using this nozzle. It's a Wilton 233.

I more or less followed this ladies directions for making the lady bugs. You'll need fondant in both red and black. The antenna's are made with dyes rice noodles. Add the noodles to water/black color. Leave out to dry. Try and separate the noodles or they'll dry together.
The 'white' part of the eyes were flat candy sprinkles, and the dots in the center were mustard seeds.

Enjoy!
